ANOTHER OIL FILTER THREAD

I misplaced my notes as to quality replacement oil filters for my '13 Stelvio.  Thought I'd get the information much faster here than cleaning my desk.  One thing however, I remember the Bosch filter seems universal to many motorcycles.  Is that bad?

I use hi-flos in most my scooters but not Guzzis.   They get the factory recommended filter.

Just read that some road race bikes have had their aftermarket oil filter o-rings fail and 1 racing organization says no more after market oil filters are going to be allowed.  1 of the CoTA racers caught fire(Kyle Wyman YZFR-1) this way last weekend.  Not that we stress our oil filters like they might.  No one said what brand oil filter came apart.

Hi-Flo are generally good and are consistent. There have been some discussions of varying quality of filters from different sources (I seem to recall Tunisia being involved); these were filters sold as MG OEM.

Regarding non-motorcycle filters with wider availability - you won't save any money, but Mobil1 M1-102 filters are the correct size, thread, and pressure relief spring for the 2 and 8 valve 1200s (as best as I can tell from my research). My Norge has used them for almost all of the 105,000 miles it currently shows, with no apparent problems. While a bit pricey, they are available almost anywhere.

Been running Bosch for the Stelvio and Breva for several years with no problem, get them at Wal Mart.

Because I've been riding Guzzis for over 30 years and there really isn't much price difference. + the UFIs last longer and I get them  X # at a time.

I've had gasket problems and I've seen a couple of leaking at the seam problems with UFIs. YMMV.  I've been running the Bosch since 07 because of that.
