Losing people you know is always unpleasant, accidents are even more tragic.  Driving any vehicle is a risk, riding motorcycles is a bigger risk...Part of the attraction to bikes is the thrill or danger......

:1: Prescott . A few years back a famous NFL quarterback was injured in a MC accident . The press vilified him for riding a MC , why would he risk his football career like that . Finally one brave writer pointed out that the wreck wasn't his fault , a car had collided with him , so maybe the car driver should be fading the heat . Of course with what we now know about the risks of playing football , the whole "motorcycles are dangerous" thing seems to not hold up very well .

Roethlisberger was between radio interviews and on his black 2005 Suzuki Hayabusa -- a large, racing-style bike -- and heading toward an intersection on the edge of downtown. A silver Chrysler New Yorker traveling in the opposite direction took a left turn and collided with the motorcycle, and Roethlisberger was thrown, police said.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Roethlisberger flew into the Chrysler's windshield and then hit the ground head first.

One can only share a sense of loss in this post. Elsewhere on this forum I have described my excitement at the imminent arrival of a new bike: the contrast with this sad tale has to make one stop and think. What do I think? There is risk in skiing, in cycling, in travel, and I do all of those things. When it happens, the individual tragedy is still a tragedy and deserves our compassion.

Sorry about your buddy.  It's tough to lose someone that way.
