2014 Cal1400.  Rain 2up.  No idea what gas was in.  Probably Weigel's unleaded high-test.  Had been in a couple of weeks.  Red triangle and big SERVICE came on.  Didn't go off, still there on restart after cold.  Wouldn't start in gear, idle not as good.

Today, finally ran out lots of that gas, filled with 91 octane pure gas.  Service light and warning triangle immediately went out.  Idle and running now fine.

Any idea what's up?  Should I do a 7 hour round trip to get it checked out?

Thanks much.

See if it recurs. If it does? Get it checked out but is sounds like some dodgy fuel may of affected some hing like one of the lambda sensors.

Well, can't you read some more info in the dash about the error? Or with guzzidiag you can read the errorsource. To know if you should worry. If you live that far from a dealer, Guzzidag is a saver.

Is Guzzidiag able to read anything from the PADS system?  I don't really know anything about reading stuff from the engine management system.  Carbs I know.  Early FI I know.  This stuff is all different!  Wonder whether I got some fuel contamination.

Will watch. And if Guzzidiag will work, I should learn that approach.

Guzzidiag can do diagnostics on all ecu that Guzzi has used. The ecu in the 1400 is called 7sm by Marelli.   PADS is the diagnostic system dealers have to buy and use.
Guzzidiag can read errorlogs, reset them and show values of all sensors.
The software is free, you only need two cables, look for the guzzidiag topic.

If it's not throwing an error currently, and your eyes and ears tell you that the bike is running okay, I say: ride and enjoy.

I have a new Eldorado, and shortly after a fill up with NON ethynal premium, the red warning light and service warning came on. It went out once but soon came back on and has stayed. It seems the idle is rougher than "normal" and it runs rough clear to 2500 RPM. I was thinking it may have to do with filling it as full as I could. I have an appointment at Powersports in Prescott during the AZNAR. Hope its just a fuel problem.
