My new Norge seat

Here is a custom King of Fleece LLC seat for a 2012 Norge.  We've completely rebuild the interior to add 1" of height with our version of "super foam" and our unique version of gel that goes below the foam next to the seat pan, a high grade leather insert at the drivers seating area, and a little bit of color at the rear just for fun.

IMHO the Norge is about perfect except for the horrible soft seat that's too low and way to soft to support over hundreds of miles.  The good news is that it's easy to fix.  I also fixed my V7 seat to be all day comfortable.

More than a few of us like a lower seat. I bought the gel OEM seat for the slightly lower height, make anything like that? Gel works great in cold but does retain heat in summer.

Nice looking seat though. Classy.

I can lower seats also but at my 32" inseam I needed a bit more.  I also raised my already tall Tiger 1050 seat-it's what works for me,

As for gel, after having all types to try and use I never put it in as in insert under the cover for two reasons.  First, gel, as you mentioned, gets hot and retains the heat in summer.  Second, and this is a lot more complicated so I'll make it short, I use an engineered controlled rebound "gel" that's shaped like a waffle, but the spacing is different in the columns.  This is placed directly on the seat pan when it's stripped and then the seat is built up from there.  It's also not very thick.  The construction method allows for a firm, and at the same time, forgiving ride isolated from most vibrations.

That said, I just like the way it looks.  Working on another one soon for a rider and it will have a slightly different look to it.

Looks like a nice 'sport' comfort seat.

Your spot-on about the stock seat being horribly soft and too low! 

My Russell (more touring) cost a little under $700 (2" higher than stock). Not cheap.

I have not done a first edition Norge-but it won't be hard.

Cost to do drivers portion of seat is 200.00  Add 40.00 to raise height.  Shipping is actual cost to us added onto invoice.

Additional services are leather insert or full cover, rebuild pillion portion, insert Alcantara fabric (my favorite), and add decorative insert (logo, flag, and such) are quoted separate as needed.

Those Italian flag decals are a mystery to me.  I got the bike used from a Harley-Davidson Dealership (of all places) in Austin, Texas, and the previous owner had put them on.  I originally thought I would remove them, but then decided I would keep them as I haven't seen another one like it ....

It's a funny thing 'cos I've buggerised  around with my Norge as much or more than the next bloke but I've never thought to touch the seat, what's the main issue that you guys identify?

Much too soft and to low (for me).  Both are very much individual to the rider.  Seats, screens, and bars are so easy to change that they don't need to be a factor in choosing a bike or changing the interface to suit the rider.

Seats ARE very much individualistic. My stock Norge seat is the most comfortable seat I have ridden on. l have no plans to change mine.

I agree, It's just personal preference.  I decided to rebuild the seat because I kept sliding forward on the stock seat until my knees were up against the cylinders and I was half way sitting on the tank....  King of Fleece was able to change the angle of the seat by building it up in the front, fixing that problem.

  The stock seat was a bit too tall so I got the OEM gel seat. To get around the heat retention issue I just cover it if parked out in the sun. Once you're riding on it it doesn't seem to get any warmer than any other seat.

King's seat does look really nice though.

During the summer I always have an old white T-shirt along. When parked I pop the seat and slide the T-shirt over it. Helps a bunch. Years ago I had a job with only about a six mile city commute. At work they had a chest type milk cooler. I would leave my helmet in that cooler all day so the ride home was quite comfortable.

I've done all that kind of stuff also.

For my money though the Alcantara with OPEN cell foam is the best by far.  The entire seat breaths and is great in the heat.
It does require use of a quality rain cover.  No free lunch in this world, as we know, but open cell has so much more comfort that the water issue is minor.  Any quality leather seat should be covered anyway for rain. 

I'm not making this stuff up.  We cover dozens of old leather seats that have been compromised by the weather.  We ship many more of our SplitWeight(tm) seat covers to owners who don't want to spend the $$$ for a new vinyl or leather top and just leave our seat cover on all the time.

We are the OEM supplier to one of the largest maker of custom leather seats for Harley-Danny Gray.  We also supply Bill Mayer Saddles and have covered their seats for IBA members.  In addition, one of our long term testers was awarded another high milage award from the BMWMOA for over 700,000 miles.  He's approaching 100,000 miles on a SplitWeight(tm) seat cover.

I didn't see any info about your seats on your web site.  Do you have a web site with samples and pricing options?

I have a Breva 1100 that I need to get the seat replaced, especially the pillion, wife says she is sitting on the pan within 30 minutes,,,,,, so something needs to be done to raise her a little for more leg room and more comfort
