Non current Stelvio availibility?
« on: May 13, 2016, 06:03:04 PM »
Other than Moto International, are there any other dealers who might have non current Stelvios for sale? Preferably closer to New York.

Every last one of them and the factory will not approve preemptive, prophylactic conversion. The flats have to have been proven to fail. It's very easy to check and by my reckoning all of them will show damage by 15,000km. The problem is some fail catastrophically before that!

Inspecting them is a 20 minute job though and once the damage has been confirmed, as long as the bike has a service history, the conversion will be approved.

Note though, no service history, no kit supplied by factory. You will still be expected to pay for installation although it seems that in some cases in the USA people are happily sticking this loss to their dealer and having a nice gloat about how clever they are.

Time needed to install the kit will vary depending on model of bike and kit required so if you are considering a flat tappet bike factor that into the asking price. Even if you can stiff your dealer into doing the job for nothing it's worth paying to have the stuff done that the factory won't cover. Cleaning the sump thoroughly and if needed back flushing the cooling circuit.

And we wonder why there aren't any good Guzzi dealers on every corner.

The dealer near us has a brand new 2013 NTX for a sweet price- $11k:

Close to the GRR airport (they will pick you up) or I can drive it out for you for a plane ride home...and a beer.

They just built a new multi-dealership. I need to get down there.

Right, better the customer pay for some stupid screwup by the factory.

Who buys a motorcycle expecting to support the companys negligence or take it in the shorts because the dealer might have to provide labor?

The owner isn't part of the profit sharing arrangement when things are going well are they?

Name the dealer's that warn prospective buyers that flat tappet bikes have self destruction built in. Then see who buys what.

USA is a free country, anyone with a flat tappet bike is welcome to pay for the whole conversion, no one is forced to accept any responsibility remedy, feel free to foot the entire bill just to say you're all in for Piaggio.
