I took this shot of the Lakeway Hotel in Meade Kansas in 2009. The hotel was built in the late 1920s (but, before the crash) and was easily the most prominent building in Meade, a small town in southwest Kansas.

I did a double-take, and then stopped to take this photograph last week. The old hotel has been demolished to make way for (yet another) gas station and convenience store.

It's not as if there aren't plenty of other empty lots to choose from along US 54, but I guess Love's Convenience Stores had to have this particular lot and no other.
