Matris Fork Kit with Springs Install
« on: May 23, 2016, 08:26:23 PM »
Hey all,

So I received my kit today and since I've never worked on the forks before, I'm turning to you for guidance.

Can someone who already installed, or at least worked on the forks before, please describe to me the process in full (as much as possible) detail? (Instructions are too basic for someone who has never touched forks)

Also, since the kit doesn't come with oil (they recommend 15W in instructions), how much oil would I need to buy? And is 15W a good recommendation ( I weigh 175lbs without gear, so about 185lbs with gear and backpack full of tools).

Thank you all in advance!

This will get you up to getting the forks removed which is the hardest part

Next is just emptying the old fork internals into a oil pan and putting the new components in as shown in the drawings that the kit came with.
15w should be fine for you, it's easy to set the oil level by sucking the excess oil out with a bit of pre-cut tubing and a large syringe.
