I think the bobbyfromnc is correct with the need of a trailer part. But that pretty much goes for any of the newer computer zoot bikes of any brand. Unfortunately it has become pretty much the same as getting into owning horses. The first thing to purchase is a pickup and a suitable trailer. Just the way it is. You either deal with it or move on to something else.

UPDATE... Just heard from dealer...

We contacted MG and they will not cover the cost of repairs. They contend the bike has been overloaded and caused the rub thru...

That is really bad form on the part of Moto Guzzi.

Makes me glad I still have my old bike.  At least I know it inside and out.

Maybe you didn't have the preload on the rear shock set high enough and it bottomed out?

Even if it bottomed out it should not have hurt anything.  Especially wiring.

Amen to that! Bobby- That is pretty lame that they (Piaggio and dealer) put you on the hook for it. Especially after what you've been through and still bought another Guzzi!

Yamaha had a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty on the Royal Stars. Bike never let me down once.

"We contacted MG and they will not cover the cost of repairs."

I had two warranty claims with the Norge, rotors and cracked fairing. Both were denied by Piaggio but MPH told me they would re-submit the claim because that was typical of MG, so they sent in the claim again and both were approved.

I'd ask the dealer to re-submit the claim or explain how an overloaded bike could cause this problem.

What does that have to do with anything ?

Maybe the implication that manufacturers are more willing to provide longer warranty periods on things that they are willing to bet will last longer without requiring large numbers of warranty repairs?

OK , but didn't we have a very similar discussion recently and form a consensus that Moto Guzzi isn't Yamaha , or Honda ?

I have no idea what consensus was reached, if any.
Hell, I don't even recall the discussion; I guess it didn't have much entertainment value

UPDATE... Dealer has sent e-mail to their sales rep to try to run intervention on this. Dealer knows it's BS because one of the salesmen at dealership had the same thing to happen to his 1400 Cal so it's not a new thing and that I did not overload the bike. I am guessing a Monday or a Friday on the Italian assembly line.

I went a head and paid the $130.00 while they sort this out. I told them if Guzzi comes through give me a credit on my 6200 mile service. We shook hands and I picked up the Cal Saturday am. I rode the bike 320 miles this past Saturday. Machine performed flawlessly.  :thumb:

I'm currently having problems with my Stelvio which has been on going now for a month or more and prior to owning it I've had problems with a new Griso . It's a dysfunctional relationship and I keep coming back for more . I guess it's the price I pay for owning a very unique motorcycle .
Lots of help here on this website though , which I can't say enough about . Hope you find the problem quickly .

Cheers ,

I tried to get my money back on an AMC Pacer.  The dealer asked why, pointing out that it needed to be a warranty issue.  I said on account of it was so ugly I had to sneak up on gas pumps in the middle of the night to fill it up and it was really disruptive to both my travel and my sleep.  He said "Sorry, That's not covered -- they all do that."
