Something followed me home...(NGC)
« on: May 22, 2016, 03:58:16 PM »

My first motorcycle was one of these, a huge dirty beast with knobbies.

Ever since that thing left me, I've been looking for another one. I've looked at every one that's gone by on ebay for nearly ten years, and this thing turned up literally 3 miles away for $1800.

Needs a carb clean to run right, and detailing to be ready to ride.

Happy!

Something wistful and amusing, yet poignant.

1974 Harley-Davidson (Aermacchi) Sprint. My first motorcycle was a '68, and been looking for another one pretty much ever since. 2 owner, 10k miles and needs little. Found it on LetGo.com about 3 miles from the house.

I think I'll make it nice, then save all the OEM pieces correctly and make a nice little cafe racer out of it.

Read a report when they first came out; seem to remember they said it vibrated sumfin wikid.

Was the Sprint the 350 and the Barracuda a 250? It was a long time ago..........

Benelli had a Baracuda.

Interesting bikes that I did not respect when they were new, but they are pretty cool now!

The first "real" motorcycle I rode back in the day was a friend's dad's Macchi. It probably kindled my life long love of Italian bikes.  :thumb:

Sprints came in 250 and 350. The Benelli 250 Barracuda looked similar but was unrelated.

The early Sprints were 250's . The later street 350's got kind of clunky as HD wanted the 'Macchi to more closely resemble Sportsters , even sprouting dual mufflers . Harley has a long history of buying Italian MC companies , losing a bunch of money , and dumping them
