03 Bonneville Wiring Harness
« on: May 24, 2016, 06:23:31 PM »
I've got a young female friend in New Orleans who bought her first bike in December a 2003 Triumph Bonneville.

Recently the battery went dead & I'm not sure if she tried to replace it or if she had help but the wires got crossed and fried.
I have not seen the bike so I'm not sure of the damage but the dealer told her $1400.00 to start.  She had to scrape & save for 3 years to buy her bike & can't afford to lay out that kind of money.

So I'm trying to scare up either a wiring harness or a wrecked donor bike & possibly find some one in her area that could help her.

She is not afraid of getting down & dirty.  About 5 years ago she came to my house every Sunday & she put together an 850 T3 I had.
She did not just sit & watch she did the work.  I would lay out a project like pulling wheel bearings out & installing new ones, go over the procedure then let her choose tools & method.  She worked in our Florida heat & humidity, slapped skeeters & yellow flies, spit out gnats & never complained.

Anyway I'd like to help her if I can.  If any one has a line on an old Bonneville please let me know.

Thanks

There are a couple harnesses on ebay that should work.  I think the harnesses are about the same from 2001 to about 2008  in USA. (Before fuel injection). I am not close by to help, sorry.

I doubt it but I'm a solid days ride away & can't take time away from my business to go out & look.
I understand the dealer wanting to put on a whole new harness it's just a CYA.

I figure if I can get the whole harness & have it on hand then maybe I can pull a long weekend and do it.

Thanks.  I was hoping someone would post how many different years would fit.  I'll hit ebay & look.

Dealer told her there were no harnesses available other than new for $550.00.

I sent her the link by phone & computer last night & this morning.  I had joined a few years back when I was thinking of a Thruxton but can't find my login info.  Told her to join & post in the classifieds & also to start a thread asking for help.  There has got to be a Thumper head some where close to her that she can hook up with.
