I'm not going to sit through the entire 50 minutes- but I get the guy's point. However, there is a point where managers should say: "he's right". Being technically correct and being ethical (I realize ethics were not necessarily at issue- but give me this) are their own end. If management had not considered some technical glitch or knew full well about an ethical problem- then THEY are the ones who should change.

Yes, you only need to watch the first 5 minutes to get the picture

Yep, I've gotten rid of someone like that.  Part of working in a company is social skills.

OTOH, if you work in an advanced technology area, then a guy like that is who you lock up in a room and let him work.  Maybe give him some difficult problems to 'guide' him.  Eventually something good might come of it.  If not, then let him go.

Agreed that the guy makes a good point in the first five minutes, but I wonder if he realizes just how wordy and drawn out he can be, himself.

Mine's just the opposite... he just got a degree in computer science and has a huge understanding of hardware and programming, but it's hard to get him to say much at all!

Sister had a co-worker that was quite impressed with himself . State office , ran by the numbers , this guy who had only been in the office for about 3 months decides the computer system needs tweaking , so he takes it upon himself to "improve" things . The only problem was , he crashes the system , gets himself fired , and then files a wrongful dismissal lawsuit against the state . Of course when the office manager who was an attorney mentions that his actions cost the taxpayers a boat load of money the lawsuit disappeared
