Getting a "new" guzzi
« on: June 01, 2016, 10:39:52 AM »
So, after awhile on a Honda I want a Guzzi again!

I'm going to check out a le mans 2 on friday-

The owner couldent give me much info on the condition as they got recently but he could not stand the driving position.
Heres the ad- (in Danish, but the pics work atleast)
http://www.guloggratis.dk/transport/motorcykel/moto-guzzi/annonce/32312338-moto-guzzi-le-mans-2

What I know is it's got a big bore cylinder kit from stein dinse (with receipt) but something like 10 years ago.
The engine was overhauled when the kit was installed, but I lack details as to what exactly has been done, and how many miles since.
It has a newer Valeo starter
It has a very enlarged sump, not just a spacer- maybe 2?
Double electronic ignition.
The guy informs me it's very quiet and valves was recently adjusted( which makes me think they were overtightened)

I don't mind putting in some work to get it great, as long as the price reflects that, so the question is what do you guys think? and what should I check and be extra careful about?
I see the intake is straightened and with stacks, so maybe i could peak the piston rings.

My previous Guzzi ran very well when I bought it, but engine died soon after, would rather not start by looking for a new engine!

Any suggestion/ advice would be appreciated  :thumb:

front fender not stock ( I think), no airbox.. I'd want to know what breather system it has, your right that sump is deep but looks like an extender with original sump below it. looks like a lot of aftermarket kit, rear sets etc.. too bad the fairing is not there..

what is that tube thing behind the left carb?

what does that price mean in Dollars?

Wonder about that tube aswell, I suspect it's some breather system maybe, will check it out friday.

It's about 6000$ but I doubt you can compare prices because of the insane taxes in this country
