NTX service icon...
« on: June 04, 2016, 05:23:10 PM »
Took me 4 years, but I hit 6150 miles on it finally.  Today, I noticed the little service wrench displays and goes away after the engine runs for a couple seconds.  Is this normal and have I missed it all along, or is this my friendly reminder to change the oil, etc?  My hunch is it is normal, and the wrench would stay on if it needed service.  My manual does not let me know the intervals with which the service light comes on and I know someone here knows the exact answer.

Thanks,
Luap

When you get to within 250km/150miles of a service point the wrench icon will start flashing at you when the ignition is turned on but then goes out after a few seconds. Once you actually pass the service point it will come on and stay on until you re-set it. You know how to do that? Yes?.

Thanks. So, I guess it'll be needing service soon.  I knew how to reset the icon on the 09 I had so that shouldn't be an issue.  I've read that 10695 is the password.  I'm trying to figure out what the dang intervals are.  The manual I have sucks and is not very informative.  Guess the intervals don't matter since I have the icon. But, I like the manual way a lot too.

Sad but true.  Hey, at least it'll be paid off with low miles on it soon :-)

Is it a flat or roller engine Luap? If flat get it inspected. By 6,000 miles I'd expect to be seeing damage.

Service interval is 10,000km/6,000miles.

Interval is 6250 miles.  That's when they recommend you change your engine oil, or once a year.  I believe if you read your manual very careful you'll find that out.  But who wants to do that there's about 10,000 warnings what not to do in there!

Hard to tell.  Are these rollers?

If you roll it over and push one of the valves open then look it will pop up at you, the forked arm w/roller.

Yep, I seen the forked arm. My valves were spot on and didn't need any adjustment.  Went ahead and changed all the fluids too.

Thanks for the feedback everyone :thumb:
