What would you think / do?
« on: June 15, 2016, 07:46:47 PM »
It's been about 14 months and 3500 miles since I changed the fluids on my Stone. Miles were OK but time prompted me to replace all.

I've always tried to use the "best" in products by using the Agip oil and Redline Shockproof Gear Lube (strawberry milkshake) and have never had issues in the last 54,000 miles.

Today, pouring the Redline into the measuring cup out of my gallon container, it came out as a red clear liquid at first and then slowed a bit until a big (1/2 cup) of coagulated Redline came out then poured more liquidy than it should. Obvious concern at that point...
Poured it back into the jug and shook it up then tried again - looked as it should.
I'm really hesitant to even think about using what I have or even Redline again. I'm thinking about going back to dino but wanted to pass this by the braintrust.
Thoughts?

Thanks.

Hmm...I'm not familiar with separation in petroleum products. I'd suspect contamination by moisture.

You could call them - a sales rep would probably tell you the same, or say it's natural, he'd seen it happen before. Or that it's a new phenom, and you're a pioneer.
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

I must be the only one who shakes oils before instillation. Just a habit, keeps the dino devils off my doorstep.   Seen lots of goo and clumps in oil.

I still shake milk too.

I buy all my oils in 20l drums because some of them have additives that separate out. A 44 would be cheaper but it's a bit difficult to pick up and shake a 44!

Have never had to shake dino oil in 50 years of MC use.
