I don't know dude, pretty hard to beat the fastest track in the USA, I'd like to see Lima live someday and make my decision. Great to be able to watch on fans choice but not like being there. I'll be watching from the comfort of my living room tonight

From an old flat tracker's point of view, Lima looked like a deeply rutted dust bowl. Robinson nearly lost it in the ruts coming through the second turn on the final lap. Some of those ruts looked 6"-8" deep. Cleaner on the inside, but many wanted to ride the cushion.

What deeply impressed me was the full attendance! Jared and Nicole Mees were the promoters and they had a fine turnout. I've been at the massive Daytona Speedway when the 200 mile road race National had sparse fans. I've watched the Daytona 200 lately and there haven't been more fans than 50 years ago. I don't know how that even survives.

The reason Lima is such a great track compared to Springfield, you can see the whole race. Springfield is cluttered up in the infield and hard to see the bike in many places.
For a mile track DuQuoin IL is a big track where you can see them most of the time

I have to agree that DuQuoin is the best flat track that I've ever attended. It was off the schedule for a while. Best drafting I've ever seen. Great view.

I went to DuQuoin 2X back in the day. It was pretty cool. Most of the races I've attended were back in the Sedalia, mo. Racing days

Let's just put it midway between these two descriptions. It would have helped if they could have groomed the track between every race, but since that didn't happen, it was about as good as could be expected.

By the final, the place to be was a strip just below the edge of the pushed-out gravel, but in that crowd, you don't get to ride where you want to--and some bikes just couldn't get it turned to follow that line. Some of the riders were following their own lines that happened to cross other rider's lines, which made for some hot riders after the race.

Lots of skill on display, that's for sure. The top riders generally figure it out, regardless, but there were some surprises (Wiles not getting it to work, for instance) along the way.

We all were pretty thrilled with Johnny's ride on the LBM Duc. He used every bit of his considerable conditioning.

Everybody's on the same track<shrug> to me one of the best things about the sport is the ever changing conditions. It was good to see the duc doing nicely.

I wasn't there to take pictures, so just have this one.

It was great to see the stands full. Even the temporary stands along the back straight were 2/3rds full, and the turns were several deep with people (who all went home with pea-gravel in their hair). Lima does better than most events in having several good quality food vendors. If you're near, this is a good place to be introduced to the sport.

Johnny can put the center of the rear tire on the dirt as good as any out there, but sheesh, I don't know how anybody can control a motorcycle when you're looking under the handlebar and are fully crossed up. This shot explains why you might want to wear goggles if you're watching from the outside rail.

I don't know how they do it either! I've had some dirt bikes crossed up on trails but not near that speed. Never ceases to amaze!
