Norge and I parting ways

I believe that now is the time for me to part ways with my Norge.  Unfortunately, after a short partnership.  I have many issues to deal with, not the least of which is a heavy work schedule that's not conducive to bike riding and being on third shift indefinitely (which I hate).  I can't stand to see it sitting in the garage and not being ridden.  Also not really enjoying making payments on it and can't even find time to ride.  It's the nicest bike I've ever owned, but right now it's just not fitting into my lifestyle.  Here's the specs:  Red 2007 Norge 1200 with less than 2300 miles on the odometer.  Side panniers and top bag are scratched from shipping damage from prior owner.  It comes with replacement NIB top bag and RH pannier that the shipper payed for.  Practically brand new for a nine year old bike.  It's located in Central IN.  I was originally thinking of listing it for $7100 dollars, but thinking that $6500 might be a realistic value.  What do you all think?  Am I even close to a target value for a private sale in my region?  If it seems about right I can go ahead and list it over on the sale board as this probably isn't the correct location.  Any questions let me know.  I can take pics and such.  I guess I might also be willing to do some sort of trade for a reliable older bike plus cash that would allow me to pay off what's left of the loan.  Would have to be a local deal as I don't have much vacation time for travel and delivery.  Thanks for all your thoughts on this decision.

I think you may be asking too much.  About a year ago I was at MI in Seattle and they had an '07 Norge with 1200 Sport forks and rear trunk for $5200.

Dang shame because they are such a great bike.

2007 is a 2v engine - no problems with these bikes, although the rear suspension was a bit light from the factory.

I would say $5500 would be top dollar for this bike. 5 if you want to move it. I sold mine for $7500 when it was 2 years old..

Worth remembering that early 2V Norges in red also had a run of crappy oil pumps. Not every bike was affected but it does increase the gamble and impacts on value.

I like the idea of riding it to and from work. You would save on fuel (unless you already have a high-MPG vehicle), and the money saved would help pay for the bike.

Well, I'll probably keep the bike if I can't get at least $5000 for it.  I owe less than that on it.  Just don't like to see it sitting around un-ridden.  I'd ride it to work more, but I work third shift.  Don't even leave the house until 10PM.  I'm usually groggy from not sleeping well during the day and having to work all night.  It was a career opportunity and promotion at work, however it's a horrible lifestyle for me.  I just generally feel like crap most of the time.  Don't like to compound night riding every day plus not feeling top notch while on the bike.  Not that I don't love riding, just not so much that I want to ride feeling tired and crabby.  I think I could change shifts in five or six years, so could get another bike then.  Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement.  This is a great discussion board.  Maybe I'll just have to revise the sale price.  Will see what happens...it isn't listed anywhere yet.

Give your new hours some time to settle in. Most but not all people will adjust to them. Heck you might even find you like them.

So hang on to the bike and see how it goes. Then if you still feel the same way, sell it.
