Lowering the standard Stelvio seat...?

So I am a little vertically challenged but I love me some Stelvio...  having owned two.

Can the seat of the later models (2014 in particular) be lowered by cutting the rubber blocks that support the seat from underneath down a bit or will the seat not even go lower you did...?

This would involve cutting the square stock locating pins that are welded to the frame and hold the rubber blocks in place...

Yeah, I never have put much in that "Both feet down" thing.  In fact, I do not do that.  I am just trying to get a little relief from the height for the tripod...

Unless there happens to be no place on one side to put your foot and you don't find out till .01 second too late .....

I solved the problem (which was one for me at 6'2" once I installed the Russell seat) by lowering the whole bike an inch.   Worked great!

Just jackin with you jb. I'm a tripod on the tiger too but you use your eyes defore you drop a foot Lannis!

Yes cutting down the blocks helps, someone showed me that trick and have done it for a friend. It was just enough to make the seat height work for him.

I had Rocky at Bill Mayer Saddles work on mine and it helped a lot.  I'm 5' 10".....

Got too much else to pay attention to when coming to a stop on the road (car coming up behind me?   Cross traffic stopping?  etc) to have to ALSO closely examine the road where my foot might land to see if there's some pea gravel or antifreeze or diesel or a pothole right there.    With a tall bike, with me on it, and a passenger on it who, although she's an almost perfect passenger, can't avoid moving a bit all the time, and 70 pounds of luggage added to 400 pounds of geared-up people ....

Therefore both feet.   Therefore be able to reach the ground.   Therefore $900 worth of Guzzitech mods to front and rear to perfect the stance of the bike ....

That sir, is what I wanted to hear.  I'll give it a try.  How much did you lower the pegs and blocks...?

If not then I'll have to go with the Russell or Mayer seat.

The original owner of the '14 NTX, spmoto here at WG did just that, Matris shock and lowered the fork stanchions to match, sag set.  I still would like a leeetle bit more for a secure footing feel, one foot.. ;)

Diggin' the newer Stelvio so I want to make any mods to suit me for a long time...

Used a band saw and cut the raised section from the blocks to make them the same height all the way across, I can't remember if it was the front of rear ones I did that too. Maybe the rear so seat would sit more level.

Interesting... I peered up under the seat to see where the pads make contact both with and without the rubbers and I don't see where cutting the tops would drop the seat enough to warrant cutting them.  The bodywork would hold the edge of the seat up from dropping more than an 1/8" ... 

Did you cut the square pegs also...?

I just do not see how cutting the tops would help...  confused.
