Question about installing Agostini exhaust (Norge)

Of course, no instructions included with the new Agostini slip-on exhaust system. After a couple attempts, I finally figured out how to attach the dang muffler to the frame. Now, where's the main fuse (want the idle trim to adjust to the new can)? Ok, disconnect the battery for a spell and reconnect  . She starts right up and idles ok, keep it running and take a little spin, nice sound (db killer out). All right, back into the garage (mind you the temp was over 100 F and I'm sweating like a pig but I got to install the new farkle). What's that smell? Looks like it's that rubber band on the inside of the stainless mounting band. I'm figuring the rubber band is to minimize vibration and it's not going to melt to the can, is it?

That's not a rubber band, it's a hot glue strip..  well, it's not a rubber band any more..

FYI: Anyone who thinks the Agostini exhaust is loud with the db killer out needs to listen to my neighbors Harley at 7:00 AM.

A Norge with an Agostini "silencer" with the DB killer removed sounds glorious, the way Odin intended! It is definitely louder than stock, but not obnoxiously so. It is loud enough that you can actually hear the exhaust while riding down the road, with trucks careening alongside and wind blast battering your helmet...

The rubber band strap is indeed an oddity, but who cares after you fire up the mighty Norge? What a virile, manly sound!

I LOVE my Ago can.... I generally have the baffle in a I detest the "loud pipes save lives" group. Yes at 7:00AM it is too much. I had the baffle out for the trip to Nationals! It was great everywhere but in-town and then I was actually a bit embarrassed by the noise. The bike does sound great with it out, but I for one would rather demonstrate my bike's and my abilities on a long trip rather than a noisy run around the block.

The MG bikes are already remarkable for their looks, their design, their uniqueness.. Not need to piss off the population with a noisy bike.....

I keep the silencer in too,  I think the bike runs better with it in .....

This time around (I am on Norge number 2), I think I'll try a Mistral can instead. Mistrals for the Norge do not hang from a rubber band (ok, the Agostinis have a metal strap, too); Mistrals hang from an honest-to-God metal bracket bolted to the can.

That does! It is much different than the Agostini can I had on my Norge (and the one I think Cool Runnings has on his).

Mine is not that loud with DB killer removed, matter of fact I think these bikes should come stock this way. It's got a pleasant mellow tone.

Mine attached just fine with the original metal brace...not a loop around the can itself.  Fits just perfectly, panniers also fit without bumping the new can.  May depend on the type of muffler you bought if an adjustment on location is needed.

No regrets, need to clean it up a bit, pictures are messy as I just installed it yesterday in 110 F (human heat). Like the way it sounds and bike runs as good or better than before. All I did was before starting it up was disconnect the battery to clear idle trim? That's what Pete said to do (remove main fuse before hand).
