Eldo Solo Seat
« on: July 21, 2016, 09:52:13 PM »
Im thinking about purchasing a solo seat for my Eldorado
I went to Greg Benders site, lots of chatter about seats but none of the links take me to a current site/

Does anyone have a link that works?

I would like to look at different options including a plain unpadded one.

Thanks

Roy

Works for me.

When "Barney's" previous owner sold it back to me, it came with a Harper's solo seat and I find that seat very comfortable.

Sorry, I don't see a price there

My Eldo came with a cheap old sprung solo seat from ebay, one of the better seats on any bike I've had. I believe the sprung solo is the way to go, I've had a non sprung solo on my other Eldo and while it was comfy the sprung seat gives a better ride.

MG Cycle reasonably priced at $300+

Ebay $50.00-$100.00 and a bit of time making some very simple brackets

I purchased that one from MG Cycle for my 68 V700, it would not fit correctly I cant recall what the issue was, but it did fit my 70 Ambo just fine. Good seat, good quality construction as well. The springs are plenty strong as well, I weigh in at 230LBS dressed for riding. DonG

A former member from down under had the same fit experience with a Harper's seat, so I guess in the knock-off market one takes their chances.  I suspect that for less money and something to use for a pan, a guy could make one/have one made that fit both him and his bike.

Having sold over 700 of these seats in the past few years, I would say that one or two people having a problem would be not a bad record. Good quality product made with American made materials.  In stock and ready to ship.

As far as comfort to each backside, ask Nike or Adidas how many shoes they have that are comfortable for everybody's foot.  No it wont fit every butt.

The fitment issue was with the front mount I think, the earlier bikes had different tanks. DonG

Besides getting a seat.  Make sure you have the mounting equipment too.  I have a solo on my Eldo and it's comfortable with the spring kit.

I have an original springer on my Ambo.  My previous Eldo had a frame mounted solo from MG Classics.

I currently have the  newer springer seat from MG Cycles, and really like it.  It gives a real nostalgic look to the bike, and It sits you up higher than other solo seats, but it is very comfortable, especially on bumpy roads....Boing!,Boing!

While on the current trip, I had a ride on a mate's new Indian Scout. Was very impressed by the single seat on it. Likely not plug & play, but definitely worth checking out.
