I went and looked at a Breva 750 this morning
« on: July 21, 2016, 01:22:27 PM »
I had to run some errands this morning so I took my Guzzi. It feels great to be healed up enough that I can safely ride it again! Anyway, a multi-brand dealership in Gastonia has a red, Breva 750 listed on Cycletrader. I was near there so I stopped in to check it out. The bike was in the back hooked up to to a charger, it needs a battery. They got it started and rode it around front for me. I know it's too little for me but it's cute and would be fun to zip around on. It looked to be in good shape. I felt around for oil leeks and everything was dry until I got to the rear end. There was a little black crud and some fresh oil on the bottom of the rear drive. I can't say if they didn't clean up from a recent lube change or if it's a leak. I looked at the asking price of $4499, thanked the sales lady for her time and left.

Needing a battery and with some oil leaking, sounds like they've got it priced about $2K too high

I think that might have to become their shop bike if that price is firm.

The black crud on the bottom of the drive is likely oil residue from the oil breather tub.  My Breva over a period of 2 to 3000 miles will develop a hard grimy sludge on the front bottom of the drive,  Its a combination of oil mist from the tube and road grime..  A little Awesome and its gone until another long highway trip or two.  Breva's tend to eat batterys unless ridden often or cared for properly.  No biggie, $50 for a gel glassmat and you are ready to go.

JB's is extra cute, and would be really fun to run around on, and is a steal at that price. Unfortunately it is not one of the fast red ones.

Took the words right out of my mouth, your Breva is just a helluva excellent deal.

I can't believe that someone hasn't jumped all over that yet.

And actually, it is one of the  fast red ones...

IMHO it is the cute red, not the fast red. Even if the red were faster to begin with, those grey inserts slow it down. Its moot however, since any bike JB is on is faster than mine. My color is wasted on me.

Either way, it is astounding that this bike is still hanging around.

It must be.  I can't figure why know one has picked up JBs yet, that is a killer deal, on a very cool B750. :afro:

Flat, I'm starting to think its inverted.  I have had my v65sp up on the W/G list for weeks.  Its very nice, sub 9k miles, with perfect lowers, Guzzi panniers, modern electronic ignition, all for $3K, but I hear nothing but crickets.

I bought it for just a little less seven years ago, and have since put a good deal into it, but I guess there is just not much love for the little ol girl out there?   Maybe I'll try another avenue.

The market for our niche brand is so small, I imagine it doesn't work through the simple laws of supply and demand.

When my first 04 Breva had the transmission a year or so back, I was hard pressed to buy another one. There were a few but California and one decent one on the MGNOC but this one was close by in Indiana and I wanted it quick so I paid $3700 for it less than a year ago. Put all the nice stuff on it from my first Breva like the Staintunes and progressive fork springs, etc and then Rosefarm had this really clean 2014 V7 with only 462 miles on it. Garage full and needed room, thought it would sell in a week!
Up at Rosefarm Classics and looking good.

I've seen several nice, low-miles Breva 750's for sale in the $3k range, often with new tires and or batteries.

With V7 Classics selling in the $4k range, $3k is about right for the older Breva 750.
