Norge 8v exhaust centre box

I have a 2012 Norge with a stock silencer fitted.  The silencer and down pipes all connect to a centre box sitting in the centre stand.

The connecting pipe between the box and the silencer has broken loose and i need to get the whole thing out to weld it up.

It looks like i will need to remove the down pipes to get them loose from the centre box as there is no movement from it.

Anyone taken one out before ?  Any ticks or is it just the ususal strip half the bike to get one piece out ?

Well that sounds like bad luck ! 

Maybe you could consider replacing it with that slick looking crossover from Agostini rather than welding it. 

Let us know how you get it fixed --

Going from memory I seem to recall it required me to support the bike on its sump with the front end tied down so I could remove or at least lift the centrestand to get the box out.

Swapping it for the Ago centre pipe would be easier probably but will affect performance and noise levels and would require a decent map for optimum results.

i got the box out by removing the upper fairing panels, both header pipes - had to chisel off the cheap crap bolts that had totally corroded away, then the centre stand and after a lot of wriggling and pulling and skinning knuckles got the sod off.  i was going to try and get the studs out of the head as well but they are in solid and i dont want to break them.

phone my man who can weld stainless, he picked it up and 8 last night and brought it back at 10 - £25, job done.

if it goes again i will consider replacement but i dont necessarily want a nosier bike, quite happy with the soft burble

all i need to do now is get it all back on !!

You must be very well connected to have a guy come pick the part up weld it and deliver it back to you within a day and to only chsrge you  25 lbs for stainless.  Unreal. Good luck getting it back on.
