Longer Cables For A Cali.

If you were in the need of longer than stock throttle and clutch cables for a '04 Cali, who would you call and order them from.
I found a few that would take your cable and get the parts off of it and make a longer cable. I'm trying to find someone who has the parts so I can just order the cables. Barnett can do it from what I've read, but it sounded like they need my parts and it would be about $100 per cable.
Any ideas?

I'd make my own. The ends and free cable length is already there. I'd just redo it longer.
Otherwise any good ujm megashop should be able to knock one out for $20 or so.

I bought the longer cables for my V11 from Moto International.
They have a lot of experience in knowing what you need.
I did not need to provide my old cables or parts.

Rodekyll, good thought. Would rather have an expert make the cables. Also I don't have a good accessory shop near me that I know of that can make them. There was a shop in my area that did, but they are long gone. A HD aftermarket shop said they could be made by Barnett, but they would need my cables and from their experiance it would be about 100.00 per cable.
Travlr, I'll give them a call and see what they can do.
Thank you so far!

No, added 2" risers to bring the stock "mini apes" back a bit so that I could sit like my old police bikes.
The cables do work as is with re-routing, but the throttle return is about a quarter inch short to fit "properly" with the re-route. It pulls out of the throttle body mount so the tip of the fitting is just in the hole in the mount. I can pull the cable to stop on the mount, but when I hard over, it pulls back to just in the mount's hole.
I'm after cables about 2-3" longer so that I can keep the original routing through the wire hangers on the dash. I need cables like the police cables for the Loops but for my Cali EVT.

Back when I was trying to fit the Bassa to the girl, I needed to add 6 inches to the clutch and throttle cables, as well as the front brake hose. I used Barnett,I did have to send them all the old parts, and they told me they would be subletting the brake hose. If I remember correctly, the whole package including shipping was around $220.

pat80flh,
That what I heard for Barnett, you have to send your cables and they use the parts. I wanted to keep my set, but I guess I can buy another stock set if I ever need them. I'll contact them.
Thank you,
Tom

Called Barnett today. I found out that they will need my cables, but only to see how the stock ones are designed. Then they have their own parts to make the new cables with. So I will get my stock cables back intact.
Downside is that they will be "about" $75 EACH give or take $10 or so and they will take a few days to a week depending on how busy they are at the time.
Thanks for the help!!

If you don't want to build your own -- for whatever reason -- (I don't care) -- $75/ea is probably a good price to get whatever you want.

Find a local independent bike shop. Most will make cables. I did that once. They only charged $30 per cable and had them done in a day. They needed my old cables to see what fittings they needed.
Try asking if there is a stock cable that is long enough. I needed a longer clutch cable for my T5 and MG Cycle found one for me.
Now days I just order what I need from Flanders and make my own. Much easier since I have completely non-std setup now.

rodekyll,
Just not very good at soldering. I'll do alot of things myself, but cables and the trans are not on the list.
charlie b,
I will look again and see if there is a shop that can do it locally. I had hoped that I could have found a place to just order the length and they would arrive at my door.
Thanks again,
Tom

Tom,
Not an order item like that unless it is stock for something else. When I wanted a longer clutch cable I found a Cali cable that was the same ends as mine, just longer.
But, no one has made T5 cables for years so I've had 'custom' ones from the get go.
There are so many different ends on clutches and throttles, shops will need to see what you have. Some might let you measure carefully and send them measurements but I am sure they've been 'bit' before trying to do that for a customer. Fractions of an inch are important in cable lengths, and especially the ends.
