V7 Classic trip setting changed after battery replacement
« on: August 28, 2016, 01:29:32 PM »
I recently changed the battery on my 2010 V7 Classic and the settings on the dash have reset themselves to Fahrenheit and Miles (before the battery change they were in KMs and celsius).

There is nothing about how to reset these units in the manual, but after much searching online, I found a post which had the instruction. With the ignition off, press and hold both buttons, then turn the key to the on position. The readout can now be changed between EU setting and USA. I made the change back to EU setting and the temperature units changed back to celsius. Success! Or so I thought.

Here's the weird part. The odometer shows total KMs as always, but the trip is still in miles. I noticed this because I always used to get about 250kms to a tank of gas, but now only get about 160 (160 miles = about 250 kms). So the odo is in KMs, the temp is in celsius, but the trip is in miles.

Could someone shed some light on this?

Thanks!

Weird. Try disconnecting the battery once more, leave a few minutes, then re-set again. Check that all measurements on both tacho & speedo are in metric, as far as you can.

That particular glitch has never happened to mine, and the battery has been disconnected &/or replaced several times in its life & the ignition once. And I'm starting to keep an eye out for a replacement tacho - may need one in about a year or so - the odometer is rumoured to stop at 199,999 km. BTW, the instructions for setting the dash are in my Classic owners manual at pp23 -33.
