and the 860s were a sad excuse for a Duc...I love my Goose but not sure anything on the planet can equal the sound of the 750/900 Ducatis with Contis... :thumb:

Would someone please explain this sentence:  "It hits a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h), easier said than done 45 years ago, thanks in part to a low weight of 407 pounds (185 kilos)."?

Exception might be the 1979 900 (864) GTS, a very good bike and more or less an first generation SD engine with valve spring top end.

 I saw my first Duc 750GT at a MG New Mexico rally way back in '99. The guy showed up on it because it was Italian, but his real motive was to steal the limelight at the bike show. It worked. At the time I was on my recently-on-the-road Police Eldo, and I would've traded him straight-up, plus cash, for that Duc. What's worse, he claimed he got it for like $1,000 from a buddy who never got it running. I still tell people about what a beautiful bike it was.

 The author is making reference to a high power to weight ratio .

Sure it's pretty, but the engine is pointing the wrong way.  I'll stick with my V7.  ;-)

   

Anyone know if it actually produced 60hp, or was that just a brochure spec?
