Mounted the PR4
« on: September 18, 2016, 08:09:43 PM »
I got the PR4 mounted on the Norge, First impressions are that it is a very solid comfortable tire and grips solid with no spinning even with an aggressive take off on wet pavement.  It is great to have a round tire again.
The negative that may be unrelated is that the bike now seems to be ultra sensitive to grooved pavement, you know like when they grind off the surface to prep for repaving. It feels like it is the front that is wiggling back and forth in the grooves, but no changes were made to the front.  i am figuring out that the best way to handle it is to relax and get loose and let it wiggle, but it is a little disconcerting.
Tire pressures are right where they have always been.
Any suggestions?
Oh yeah, someone had asked to see my amateur lockwire job when I was done so here it is.

We've got a mess of grooved pavement here in Las Vegas, but I actually found the PR4s to be as good or better than the Pirelli Angel GTs on the stuff. I did change both ends at the same time, but your note seems to indicate you just did the rear - clarify?

I found the PR4 was a noteworthy improvement for cornering, but had a definitely different feel.

Yes, I went from PR3 to PR4 on the rear only.  The front is still PR3.  It just really surprised me how much looser the front end feels on the same grooves I have been riding daily.  It doesn't feel like there is any problem at all on the rear, but I know how deceiving that can be.  I am going to double check pressures tomorrow.
