Free at last, free at last... (and unrelated sidecar talk)
« on: September 08, 2016, 06:09:05 PM »
...In Carlo's memory I'm free at last!

Trivial news, but this morning I mailed off the final payment on Sophia, she's all mine now!

I'm only permitted to pay for one motorcycle at a time.  Archaic as it sounds, a Royal Enfield Bullet/Cozy sidecar rig has my attention at this time.  Boy, would that make an eclectic fleet- a Yamaha FJR, a Moto Guzzi V7II Stone, and a Royal Enfield hack.  No overlap in that group.

I wish the frame of the V7 was worthy/capable of a sidecar, I'd set it up in a flash.  But those split downtube frame tubes (in front of the engine) on the V7 just don't seem to make a good tub mount.  Does anyone have a tub on a modern V7?

I've never seen a RE hack.  In the period of one week, I saw two RE/Cozy combinations.  GoMoto in Minneapolis did at least one of them, new just a few weeks ago, and I'll assume they did the other, too.  Talked with one of the owners, a long time Guzzi, and other brand, owner.  Also Ural.  He said he likes this RE hack better than the Ural.  Rides nicer, lighter weight, and the RE thumper pulls just as well as the Ural boxer.  So he claims.  Smaller engine but a much lighter package than Ural.  Still not suggested for interstates.

Oh well, it's fun to dream.

guzzisteve & Penderic

Well, you have my attention, and I am intrigued.  Are those your bikes?  If so...

Please, tell me all about them.  Make/model of the tub, attachment to the bike, how you dealt with the joint on the frame ahead of the engine, etc.

How's it been working, and holding up?  How has the motorcycle performed?  Is it highway worthy?  Interstates?

Thanks much!

Steve.
