Calvin seat question
« on: September 07, 2016, 04:43:30 PM »
Hi guys. I need some information regarding the seat color on a 07 vintage. Can anyone tell me if the factory black and white seat came in two shades of the white. Was there a cream or off white version seat offered?  Thanks in advance

To the best of my knowledge there was only one part number for the skunk (white striped seat) if you have a used seat that appears cream it might need a gentle cleaning.

Thanks for the response Wise, reason I ask is I've got a 07 Calvin coming from ID now that the owner changed the seat out for an upgrade. His seat looks good, is black with a small white trim bead. I just really like the skunk seat. I found a new one at a parts dealer for 85.00 but the picture shows the white part look off white or a light cream color. The part number comes back to a 07, so I was just curious if there were multiple seat colors offered other than black or black and white.  Thanks for the info :)

The white on the skunk seat is slightly off-white.  I know this because I had the dealer put one on my new pearl white '09 Calvin, and it made the seat look dirty.  That's why they went all black seat on the white bikes.  Looks great on the black Calvins though.

I affectionately called my stock CalVin seat the torture rack from hell. Went with a Ned's seat and couldn't be happier.

Wise, you think I should hold off buying the skunk and see how his modified saddle works first?

I my experience, the stock Calvin seat is still much better than the earlier California model's stock seats.

Good report MY, in my experiences on ridding for over 50 years I have never saw a seat yet on many different bikes and custom seats, after 5 or 6 hours I want off the bike period. I'll probably ride both seats a while and see if there are much if any difference. Thanks for your advice and thoughts
