broken wrist - selling sporti
« on: July 03, 2017, 03:34:48 PM »
hi gang,

i was out riding the bicycle on father's day afternoon when a little kid leapt out in front of me on the path. i was already slowing down to get by him and his distracted parents but when he made his move i yanked on both brakes for all they were worth. i went over the top of the bars and wound up breaking my right wrist. yeah, i wanted to strangle the kids parents.

i have been in a cast/splint since then with the hope that the bone would start to set and not shift. alas the radius cap shifted and i have to go in for surgery late this week. they will screw in an L-shaped plate to bond the cap and radius back together.  this means no moto riding for pretty much the rest of the summer.  i already have a long pin in one leg and am thinking about getting a big metal funnel to use as a hat (wizard of oz reference.)

i am going to sell my yellow 1100 sporti and put the cash into my 850T3 rebuild.  the sporti was always a bit too long and a bit too heavy for me but it sure was fun!  i'll post the bike here when i get it washed and get some pics taken.

Bad news about your wrist.  Good luck with your sale.

Yeah.  Like never!  LOL.

That's a Sport 1100 carb, which were made 1994-1996.

The 1994 Sport 1100 came on the heels of the 1993 Daytona 1000.  The much cheaper to produce 1100 engine knocked four grand off the MSRP of the Daytona, giving more people access to riding Guzzi's endurance racer chassis on the street.

Don't care, I want one! I didn't maximise the pic to see the different head on it!

Just an FYI but I had wrist surgery (plate and whole lotta screws) just 90 days ago and according to this morning's x-ray I'm completely healed and fully discharged.

Fwiw I rode again within about 4-5 weeks of the surgery, though I had to be extra careful then.

Good luck with the procedure and healing!

Several posters here (including me) seem to be breeding Sport 1100s.  If you decide to sell, you should post here.  The bike would be hard to replace, though -- I'd think hard before selling.

Good luck with the healing process.

"yellow 1100 sporti" - Absolutely gorgeous model Guzzi. I don't think I could ride one anymore but it would be great to have even if you just got to look at it everyday!

i know. i keep waffling.  i already have 2 sport touring bikes (a k75s and a T3) and i hadn't intended to add a sport bike when i went shopping. i was looking for a low cc, lightweight bike that i could use a lane splitter and commuter.  i went onto craig's list looking for a decent ktm 390 and thought, "oh hell, let me look at guzzis while i am here. WHAM, the yellow sporti jumped out of the screen and shouted "you have to buy me right now"... and i did.  while i am recuperating from the broken wrist it is the ideal time to work on the other bikes. so, the sporti should go. if i had my druthers i would move the damned thing into the living room.

there is an episode of "Episodes", the hbo (i think) series, when the english writing couple goes to visit matt le blanc in his posh house. against the wall in his living room, just sitting there, is a stunning ducati. yeah, i understand.
