LEO is getting Sneaky
« on: September 30, 2016, 12:45:48 PM »
I talked to the motor officer and they are excited to have this bike, both for downtown and especially for use in the city parks.  The strobes on this are amazing and light up the world from every angle.
I want one!

Earlier this month Sioux Falls Police began using a Triumph Tiger XR, a multi-purpose motorcycle with an 800 cubic centimeter engine designed for use both on road and off-road.

“Pretty much every day it’s going to be in use in the parks service – parks, the bike trail and things like that,” said Lt. Jeff Garden.

The Triumph Tiger, decked out with all the bells and whistles that the department’s seven Harley-Davidsons are equipped with, is expected to give officers better access to areas of the city that are difficult to get to. Garden said during a recent missing child case at Great Bear, officers on scene determined they couldn’t adequately hunt for the child using their motorcycles and had to run back to the public safety headquarters in downtown Sioux Falls to get the department’s four-wheelers to continue the search.

That would seem like a much better bike for most urban settings than an H-D or a big BMW. Certainly cheaper to buy and maintain.

Interloper. That officer won't be getting his kickback this year.

Maybe Guzzi could really develop the V9 and design a police model to sell to the LAPD..... they've done it before.
I'd much rather ask for forgiveness than ask for permission.

that 800 is nicely weighted bike with very good power.  I'd like to ride one.  But it looks like a "do everything" bike: sportbike, standard, adventure tourer all in one.

BTW- San Francisco police have a fleet of Suzuki DR400.

I have a Tiger 800XC. It is indeed wonderful as a city bike and a great bike all around. Seems like a good choice for motor officers.
