I finally got the rear rack and crash bar put on today:
The rack should work well for my work bag so I will no longer have to wear my backpack.

No, I ordered the center stand. I want to learn how to do the oil changes, air filters and brake pads myself. It won't be here until November, so it'll probably go on next year. I've got to figure something out for saddlebags. The OEM hard bags are really nice, but super expensive and I wouldn't use them a ton, but then again I've no plans to upgrade anytime soon, so the cost over 100,000 miles isn't so bad. I might do some throw over bags too. The only other thing is the shocks. The roads around here are fairly good, but I get a nice jolt once in a while, so I might look at those.
Being that you're in Madison, only about five hours from me, we should do a Nevada rally some day or at least go to lunch. It'll probably the only time two Nevadas have been together outside the dealership ever. I wonder how many of them Guzzi sold in the US? It can't be much.

I've been thinking about riding up to Whitehall to see a friend. I'll let you know if I do. Lunch at the Norske Nook might weigh the bikes down too much though.

Instead of oem, you can just go straight to hepco becker for racks and bags. Although your not likely to find used racks for a Nevada, lots of used bags pop up ebay or here...change the panel colors with Plasticoat
Moto International has a solution for rear shocks at $280, long honking 15" ones you mount upside down, but with a much better spring...progressiv
es
With longer v7 rear passenger pegs I was able to mount a cheap used (guzzi content) pair of La Franconis that make all the right noises...oh the glory third and fourth gear 4 to 6 grand...oh lord....mistral crossover...slather anti-seize on all the exhaust joints while you can get them apart
Airhawk on the seat, with a sheepskin cuz that seat sucks..kuryakyn #4509, or was that 4507, for some hi way pegs for my 32" inseam...ebc HH seems to be an upgrade for the front brake but I haven gone there yet
Roper says get the sump extension.
Different colored front fenders are everywhere...same as v7, used on fleabay...buy three and change it every season....!
Perfect for me...a little twitchy when challenged with wind, but the low seat and low 400lb weight works wonders for ease of entry into assuming the position for transcontinental locomotive travel, or 50 miles when I start looking for coffee.

Thanks Chuck. I'm thinking all that stuff will have to wait until next year as it's getting close to the end of September here in MN, which means Winter is not far off.
I think the Nevada perfect for me too. Light, but still has some pick up at 75MPH. When the winds above 25MPH, I'd agree, it's not as fun, but those days are rare around here. I don't mind the seat, but I haven't done any longer rides yet.
My days off are Sunday or Monday. I think Whitenall is a little more than half way, but I'm game if the weather is decent.

Seeing that little red Nevada sure brings back a lot of memories of it for me and of a friend who once had one!

Be sure to have that in-the-tank fuel filter and hoses changed out for ethanol-proof parts or you will surely be stranded some day.

Whatever Chuck says is a good idea. For me, short 5'6" with a short inseam 30", a sheepskin pushed me too far forward if it heads up the slope on the back if the passenger area of the seat. Keep that in mind if you look for one. But the comfort of sheepskin is marvelous.
I'd like a set of crash bars so I can mount highway pegs. It would be good to have options on longer rides, and highway pegs would be just the ticket. When I have the $, it is first on my list.

I decided to get the throw over bags. The hard bags would have been great with the ease of on and off, and the fact they're waterproof, but cost three times as much and since I'll only use them a few times a year, the throw overs offer better value. I'll have to play with the adjustment, but I think they look good:
Now that the rack is on, I can use my milk crate, which was left over from the TU250x, for short trips to the store and it goes on in minutes:

Unfortunately, the improved shock is only offered in black:
which I'm not sure I like since the bike is mostly silver.

The bags look very nice!
LOOSE THE CRATE!!!!!!
You can find a trunk on fleabay for well under $100 that would look nice. I have a Harley style trunk on both of my Loops that cost about $75 each. Might need to make an extension to fit one to that short rack like HB did for my Cali.

What bags are those? They look good. I am agnostic on the crate, although the e-z on, e-z off is appealing.

They're
Tour Master SL Saddlebags
. I'd agree, I think they turned out well and cost a lot less than the hard bags, which is good since I won't use them a ton. The milk crate is great for a few items from the store because the top is open unlike a bag, so you're not as limited.
