I believe they have a problem with 5th gear. At least that's the answer I got when I was thinking about buying one.

A 2000 would be a v11 sport not a 1100 sport. It has a 6 speed smooth as margarine  no worries!

Vapor lock from the fuel pump being too close to the top of the engine.  Relocate it and you'll be fine or insulate it from the engine heat.

Aesthetically the best Guzzi since the Lemans 1, Guzzi has never made a more sexy macine imhp
They are a very reliable bike after you chase down a few niggles. If in nice condition get it, you'll be smitten.
If it's lime green why don't you own it already?

There were two recalls on the V11 Sports built in 1999 due to connecting rod bolt and transmission issues.  Check the VIN against the numbers shown in the recalls here:

http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14680

If the bike that you're considering falls within those VIN ranges the seller should have documentation that shows the repairs have been done.  If not keep looking.

I bought a new V11 Sport new in 2000. The recalls did include con rod bolts, third gear, and oil cooler mounts. I had issues with the clutch and intake valve stems, the trans was replaced under warranty as was the first clutch, the second one I did myself. Once I started noticing oil smoke on hot starts and got the notice for the con rods, I listed it on Ebay and bailed. I enjoyed the bike and the Triumph Sprint ST I replaced it with fell very short on suspension and handling. Join that forum, check to see if necessary campaigns were performed and don't pay a lot of money for it.

Have 30+ motorcycles currently in my shed, and the absolute last one I will part with is my V11 Sport.  Has had it's minor niggles, but has been a joy to own.  Took it on a 1500 mile jaunt this September.  Was a blast.
