Brian,

Sounds like you could use some Convert documentation. Please send me a PM with your full name and mailing address and I'll send you a CD with all the factory manuals (Workshop, Parts, Owner's) as well as wiring diagrams, copies of period ads and road tests and a number of "How-to" articles. That should help you find your way around the bike. No charge and the same offer applies to any WildGuzzi member worldwide.

I also have similar CDs for other Guzzis, mainly '70s and '80s Tonti-framed bikes: 850-T, 850 T-3, 850 T-4, V7 Sport/750S/750 S3, Convert, G5, Le Mans 850, Le Mans 850 II/CX 100, Le Mans III, LE Mans 1000 (IV & V), 1000S, California II, California III, 1000 SP and SP2, and general, but incomplete files on the early small blocks and 1100 Sport/Centauro. Same terms apply: I'll send them free if you let me know which model(s) you'd like and send me your full name and e-mail address in a PM.

Thank you both Charles and Bob!  PM sent Bob.

My wife asked me today what I thought our friend Larry Klein of GT Motors would be doing on the 4th of July if he were still alive.  I replied that I would like to think he'd be here with us, eating steak this afternoon and looking over the Convert pointing out the oddities and wrong parts etc..  I really miss my friend, working on and learning about this bike brings that all home.  Sometimes I can feel him looking over my shoulder.

There are two banjos down there.  The little one is the bellhousing drain.  It stays open to atmosphere.  The big one, the one in the picture is the other atf return line.  The flow into the t/c splits in the casting.  One branch feeds the t/c and the other branch lubricates the bushing, shaft, and bearing.  the bottom banjo returns the shaft lube side.

UPDATE:
I am a retired guy and am somewhat lazy, hence my lack of drive to get this done.  Finally cleaned up my workshop, cleaned of the bike bench and swept some of the floor.  Got the Vert on the bench and repaired my botched repair to the transmission drain plug hole with a Keen-sert, drilled out hole to 1/2", tapped to 14.5 x 1.5mm, installed Keen-sert threaded at 10 x 1.5 inside with red high strength Loctite, drove in the retention devices, installed new plug, filled transmission, no apparent leaking, result as Edd would say.

Ordered tires and tubes today, Shinko 230, 110/90H 18 front, 120/90H 18 rear.  Have a replacement taillight coming from George of  the Yahoo Convert group.  Still have some wiring issues to sort out but may be able to ride it in limited fashion this weekend, depends on tire arrival.
Thanks for the help guys!!!

I would like to find a sump spacer or a deep sump for this, anybody got a spare?  I have the pan off now, seems a shame to reinstall it without a spacer.

I got a spacer from Bill Lovelady and installed it.  I pulled two sump gaskets off my collection on the wall, got the correct length bolts from my bolt selection, lined everything up and started bolting things together, oops, one bolt won't go, pull it all apart, hmm one hole in gasket not punched, okay, punch hole, start over.  One bolt on other side won't go, yup, another hole not punched.  Two gaskets each with one hole not punched and different holes to boot combined with me too stupid to check both gaskets after finding one not punched makes a lot of work.  Still haven't ridden it, working too much.

Here's a question, what seals the clutch rod at the back of the transmission I seem to have a leak there.
