Breva 750

Hi All.
I bought my , new , 2006  Breva  750 , cheap, in 2007 and had it flown to Canada.
I mainly get to ride it, in June , July & part of August.
This year , due to my dad  dying, I was delayed  til late August, and flew  back on the  2nd of  October.
I have had a main seal go, once, which meant a dismantling, so , I told the mechanic, as the bike is going to be in bits anyway, irrespective of how the clutch looks, please change it, so I do not get a week down the road, then it goes, somewhere with no Guzzi people  for a thousand miles.
Apart from that major check, the  Breva 750 has been great, Each year it had been serviced , Either by Jason , or  one time in St  Joseph Missouri, then by  the late  Larry  Klein & Brian Mc Call, in Lansing Mi. 
This year, since the bike was in Cedar City, it got oil changes in Sandy Utah, even though  Harrisons Eurosports, had closed their  Guzzi Department, a week before I got there.
Then I went to see Todd @ guzzitech, and on the way, blew an exhaust gasket.
He also, once the Breva was on the ramp, decided  the rear tyre, an Avon Roadrider, was more worn than it looked.
It had done 11 871 miles.

The only problems I have had, with the bike, is  the rear  brake travel screw, unwinding, causing the rear brake to lock up.
Since that bolt was hidden behind an aluminium panel , it  took some head scratching, then some locktite , to fix.
Another time going to Alaska, the engine wouldn't  start.  that  took some head scratching too, but it was traced to the kick stand  cut out switch , not working, so, it got the snip  & off we  went !
 I have put 73 804 miles on the bike. and as much as i like it, I am sorely tempted to get a  Roamer  850, but , only if I can get a 22 ltr tank on it.

I am only posting here to clear up a misconception, I really don't believe that the main seal was leaking. I found no evidence of it when I got in there. The seal was replaced prophylactivly at relatively high mileage and hard usage, two-up etc.  Motoguzziman is entitled to his own story, the man has serious mileage on this bike.

I have repaired two Breva 750s that were thought to have rear main seal leaks.  The actual leak was at the connection shown as #30/31 in the above illustration.  This hose enters the rear of the engine roughly in line with the joint between crankcase and clutch housing.  The hose is of very poor material for the job at hand and loses tension in the crimped area, the hose enters below the engine oil level.  I replaced the hose by removing the crimp to save the fitting as it is not common in the US  and substituting a high quality, high pressure, high temp automotive hose commonly used for automatic transmission coolers with a high quality hose clamp with rolled edges common for fuel injection hose.  This is a hose that has little pressure but leaks when hot and the oil goes everywhere and certainly looks like a rear main seal leak, only when I separated the engine and gear box and found no oil was I finally convinced of the true nature of the leak.  If you can move that hose where it is crimped it will leak.  I have also found that fitting loose where it threads into the crankcase.

The clutch disc was quite worn and the flywheel and pressure plate were quite well blued, all were replaced.
