Engine Crash Bar Installation on 2016 Eldorado
« on: October 22, 2016, 11:31:37 PM »
Hi. I have recently bought a new Eldorado and is my first Guzzi. On top of that I am returning to riding after 25 years. Have a lot to re-learn. I have a set of new original MG Crash Bars. I didn't get any instructions with the parts so tried to have a look myself. On the area corresponding to the bolt holes on the bike there are bolts fitted there already so they must holding something together. Since I don't have any instruction sheet I didn't want to open things up and get into trouble. If anyone has a set of instructions can you please share...is it a DIY or a shop job?

I am from Melbourne, Australia

Cheers

I removed the bolts one side at a time , set the bar in place and bolted it up. I didn't have any trouble. It took me maybe 1/2 hour total.

I didn't have any instructions either, but I didn't have any trouble. I too have a '16 Eldo.

On another note, if you desire bags for the bike, Hepco Becker makes mountings for their C Bow bags. More capacity and less $$$ than the Guzzi bags. Do a search on this board and you can see my pics of the bags and installation.

Thanks John, I will follow the lead. Any particular torque values I should be after?

On another note and I will post that separately I need some advice with the MG USB Support Kit. Have you installed that?

Cheers

I have a copy of the installation instructions, it says "refer to the maintenance manual". It seriously does!  That and some warnings.....LOL

I would use the torque specs in the maintenance manual specific to the frame bolts you are replacing.

Congrats on the Eldo, mine is fantastic!  And I second the Hepco Becker Bags!

I'm not sure what the torque values are. Put mine on last year as soon as I could after I bought the bike.

Thanks...The Eldo is amazing. Almost a life changing experience each time I ride it....like where had it been all these years sort....it has everything I could have thought off and after a 25 year absence the wish list gets to be pretty whimsical....

Engine Crash Bars sorted......support ed the engine and frame with a small jack just in case. Took all of 30 mins to put them on and torque them. A service centre/dealer should be able to do it in  mins...tops!
