Where is the machining done?
good questions, Norm. The factory has modern machining capability (I've seen them), but I couldn't tell you what's done in-house. Certainly, though, the surrounding area--and all of north Italy, really--has quite a bit of manufacturing capability. Did you ever drive through Wellington, Kansas (just south of Wichita)? Every other building houses a high-tech machine shop capable of building most anything needed on an airplane--shipped worldwide. You'll come across places like that between Mandello and Milano. Castings? I'd doubt that Guzzi ever did those, but it'd be interesting to find out. But, a walk through Mandello turns up all sorts of little places--so, it's possible it was done right in town (and might still be).
