« on: November 26, 2016, 06:57:49 AM »
Someone pleaae save this Convert.
I have to believe it will go cheap...and this could be a good running and goid looking motorcycle with some attention to details.... Right now SHE has been beaten with the ugly stick.
Ask him if he still has any of the parts he took off of her.

Oh I don't know, I think the thing could be a hoot to own and drive.
The vastly upgraded front end and brakes would be worth quite a lot in themselves, and it reads like the seller has done quite a bit of other work to it.
Just fiddle with the wiring a bit, add in a starter switch, and get some Vapor gauges, or use a GPS, it would be less expensive.
And the seller does say it has a clean title, and is currently registered and insured, all of which adds value.

If it was local and could be had in the $1K - $1200 range, I'd definitely want to check it out.

From the add:

The clutch is removed. It have never used it. When is is cold I start the bike on the center stand but after the first start I start the bike just sitting on it.

I'm not very familiar with the Convert models.  Doesn't the owner mean he removed the clutch lever and cable? I thought the Convert two speed transmission propels the bike through a traditional multi-plate motorcycle clutch.

You can still ride a Convert with a non-working clutch.  The bike has a torque convertor.  It's not a true automatic transmission.  When you start the bike you have to make sure that you have the foot brake pedal is depressed otherwise it'll jump forward when the engine fires.

Mine has no clutch control.  j start it on the side stand with the front brake engaged.  Once started it idles on the side stand without trying to walk away.  The torque converter is ineffective below about 1000 rpm.

This thing looks scary. How will it handle with decent tires? 16" Yamaha cast wheel and a stock borrani rear is an odd combo. Is an old 80's non adjustable fork and brakes from a tariff beater FZ700 an upgrade?
