Goodonya!

I guess this means I don't get your broken ECU.  :'(

Oh -- you replaced the relays with 5-pinners throughout, right?  That's what makes them mix-n-match.  If you really want to make them rugged, pop the caps off and seal them with some non-silicone sealer.  I went dead during a rainstorm once and solved the immediate problem with a spare relay.  When I took the dead one apart the water poured out of it.  I checked the rest and there was moisture or standing water in all.  So I used a marine sealer for the cap/base part and little smear of petroleum jelly on the relay posts and base of the replacements before I installed them.  I also made a nice blanket out of inner tube to help keep water away from the area.

5-pinners are generally free wherever there's a boned out Explorer or other Ford-ish big product.  I get as many as 15 from one rig.  I haven't checked the smaller cars.

I'll let you be the one to ask Wayne if you should use dielectric grease.   ~;

Thanks for the advice, I spent the extra buck and got the sealed ones.....Had been warned about the Relays before I bought my Centauro.

Nice to get this beast off the rack and get the Centauro back up there.  Lots of new bits to install.

Congratulations, I'm guessing the broken relay was causing an intermittent fault, the hardest to find.
I have only found one bad relay but I like to start off a new Guzzi with a batch of new relays.

As for the Centauro, how about some progress  :PICS!:

Most of my modifications to date have been cosmetic and corrective.

Powder coated most everything that was chrome to either gloss or flat black.
Replaced the Clutch Perch and Lever
Replaced the Brake Lines, Master Cylinder and Lever
Replaced Risers and Bars for a more comfortable reach
Added Creedon Chip
Brass Temperature Sensor
Upgraded the Spark Plug Wiring
Replaced Battery Cables with Motolectric Cables  (First thing I do on any new bike)
Installed Earth-X Lithium Battery
LED Headlight from www.Xenondepot.com

Planned Modifications:

Motratech Foot Controls on Order
Power Commander
Ceramic coat the exhaust using Jet Hot Titanium
Mistral Oval Carbon Fiber Cans

You may be the first person on record to remove that plastic temp sensor holder intact.  ;D Sorry, but I don't like the color..  :pop

Nice, I can't say I like the cream colour either but I'm sure it looks better in real life.
No problem with the black
Consider using Guzzidiag instead of adding a power commander

That Cream color is the stock Centauro Yellow and is probably the result of a bad photo.

Damn, it's not even my bike with the electrical problems and I'm loving the thread. Thanks for knocking the cobwebs off of the electrical troubleshooting lobe of my brain.

It was never very well developed to start with, but at least I have a little knowledge now. And you know what they say about a little knowledge...
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Fixed

Ran all the Voltage Regulator tests and everything seemed to check out fine.  Just for kicks I pulled all the fuses and relays to clean the contacts and of course that's when i found it.

The 5 pin relay pulled out and left 2 pins behind in the socket.  These Relays and Fuses are 13 years old so I took the Brute Force approach and replaced them all with Brand new components.

Turned on the Key and WOW, lights, Horn...... ;D

Still no Tach, so i went in search of that elusive connector under the tank.  I finally found it tie wrapped to the back of a wire harness bundle against the frame.  Against the frame with at least an inch of bare wire that was holding on with about 2 strands.  Cut the wires, put on new connectors.....We have a working Tach.

I want to thank everyone that have been so helpful and patient with me.  I now understand what, "Moto Guzzi, making electricians out of riders"  means.

Now back to the Centauro Project........

Hi,

Sorry for being late to the party.

How many relays are there?  Approximate locations?

Thank you

Maurice , if you are asking about a Tonti California , all of the relays are behind the right side
cover , all lined up in a block with the fuses .

Congratulations I'm always surprised how many different faults you can get in such a simple system.
