While my youngest daughter was taking weekly riding classes I decided to take lessons myself. Although I only learnt some very basic skills, it's given me great joy to be able to ride together with her at times. And as wth motorcycle riding, I've had to close my eyes for the dangers ......
About "learning to ride" - I admit it took me quite a while to understand that the horses that were used in the training sessions knew on beforehand what to do, and in any case were mostly obeying the instructors, not stupid new students!
And about the instructors - I was amused to learn that when they were gossiping and discussing the atmosphere and situations at work, they included the horses, completely as if the horses were persons. Like "then came Horse A, and when he saw Horse B was doing this or that, he got really mad and ......" You get the drift, I thought it was really funny.
