New old Stelvio
« on: February 11, 2025, 02:39:49 PM »
Thanks to all who commented on my Griso windshield and SP oil burning questions. My goal was to replace my dead Stelvio with a Guzzi that I could handle at age 80 and ride to rallies inAR ,ID,and the Midwest. My thinking changed yesterday when I sat on and viewed my riding buddy Steves 14 orange Stelvio with a mere 66000 miles,as opposed to mine with 93000.Despite having been ridden to Prudhoe bay and other exotic places it was as shiny as new.I am buying it after rationalizing that I rode my old one to NC and OR last summer without dropping it and I feel about as fit as I was then.As to 26,who knows,I can always get a smaller bike from the vast collections being sold a fire sale prices these days.

If you hang around long enough it happens.

I still have two months before I reach that milestone. How is that happening? I had to let my Audace go, too heavy and awkward, I am doing fine with the Mandello although I can see the handwriting on the wall when the V7 becomes my main ride. After that, a Vespa?

Good for you Tom for getting a new ride. I don’t recall hearing about you getting the oldest Guzzi rider award yet, but you have to be getting close.
At 70 I’m still comfortable handling the Norge, but at times that weight reminds me I need to work out more. Fortunately, last season I finally got the EV -Taraplane sidecar rig together. So I’ve got that going for me when the Norge gets too heavy.
