Calls from potential buyers indicate it will probably sell, but also probably at a pretty low price.  I currently have it listed for $2,399, but will likely have to go below $2k.  It's actually not a bad motorcycle if you're into cruisers with lots of chromed plastic.

When the Brussels sprout fails to venture from its lair, it is time to roll a beaver up a grassy slope.

Thanks for all the good advice.  The rig is only posted here in the classifieds, not on cl.  I too prefer selling to a club member.  I have gotten a couple of enthusiast calls and visits and it was great to make a new Guzzi friend regardless of whether it sells.  I have gotten 4 of the scams emails too so this tells me the scammers must be watching this board too.

If your listing is only in the classifieds here and you're getting scam contacts, then the scammer is registered on this board.

Now look what you've done.   I just wasted who knows how much of my limited bandwidth watching Ted's videos.

He's actually a pretty funny guy - something different, anyhow!

Here?  Or MGNOC.com?

If it's here, I need to know the member that's trying to scam you...pronto.  If mgnoc, just ignore it.

Got it. You've been scammed by people on mgnoc.com (open to the world).  Only members can see your ad on wildguzzi.

If you'd like, I can pull your email address from the mgnoc ad. That'll force buyers to have to call you on the phone.

So I've got a question ... One of the first ways that you know it's a scam is when the "buyer" says "I am interested in buying your item .... ", not naming it as, say, a Moto Guzzi Sport.

Why would they not name it?   They've seen the ad, they know the price and not only that they OFFER the price, so they don't have a problem transferring that from your ad to their reply.   Why not go ahead and name the bike they are scamming you for?

If they did that, it would be a whole lot harder to spot it as a clear scam .... ?

Probably because their scruples are not on par with ours. I mean what kind of education does one have to have to be a common crook?

Most of the scammers are in Russia, China, Pakistan, Iran, etc.  They have trouble with our language as it is.  I'm pretty sure they all use email scripts and copy/paste anyhow with their mass mailing efforts.

Any offer that involves money orders and not using the US postal system is a scam. When I get those scam offers I agree that it is a great deal but I have a slight problem. I tell them that I have to leave town because I am a long haul trucker/ Merchant Marine/ Military or my Cancer has returned and I am being sent to a Fred Hutchinson cancer hospital in Seattle so I won't be able to handle the transaction.
My elderly Uncle will be handling my affairs while I am gone, he doesn't have internet so they will have to mail the check and all document and please include all of our email correspondence as proof of who they are.
Give them the name and mailing address of a fraud detective/ State prosecutor or local FBI office. Tell them that this is the nurse aiding your elderly uncle, Sometimes this work . Make sure that you have not included your phone or address in the ad or you will get a barrage of harassing and threatening phone calls
   Good luck and happy hunting.

This reads like a perfect example of why luap has his classified restricted to registered members.  The security works.   :thumb:
