1978 TZ750 road racer, ebay
« on: March 08, 2017, 06:46:52 AM »
THIS is my favorite...maybe if I put on turn signals? In my dreams I get to ride this...

1978-82 I was at almost every race at the Loudon nh, track. These tz bikes are the pinnacle of two stroke technology and just wailed down the several straights. All the best privateers wanted these. And oh so sweet the 9am wake up call on Sunday morning race days...you ever hear a race paddock start for morning practice? Bringbbrriinngg, bRAPP, bRAPP, brap, bringdabringda, BRAP, BRAP,BraAAAAAPH...

The best running two strokes had an extra crispness to them going thru the gears, like a sharp snap. If you got the jetting wrong for that days barometric pressure they'd sound just a little dull

Lots of privateers grabbed these when superbike came on, and you had this incredible racing going on behind the factories out front. Anyone else out there waste your days at a racetrack once in a awhile?

had the pleasure long time ago in Houston.
A place called race 214 i think it was.
they had a TZ 750 in the shop and what struck me was how small that bike was
I looked like art work to me
I have always loved the sound of  2 stroke twins or triples,

Chuck, I've got 3 - 2 strokes. One rather new ('09), 2 - (a '91 and a '73) are all big fun. The real hoot is riding rural roads quickly and coming upon some guy mowing his lawn. He's pumping both fists, in the air over his head. The grin on his face is as big as my own. I hardly miss the smell of bean oil, damn! AND there's hardly any smoke.
That TZ could put a serious hurt on you. Find yourself a 250 - 350 and enjoy the ride. Trust me? I had a Suzuki Gamma for a short time, back in the day.
Thanx for posting that listing, Chuck. That bike is gorgeous. Worth the $$$$$, too. The front brake should be in my living room.      Good fortune,  R3~

I remember one year racing at Barber on my Guzzi Superbike when there was a TZ 750 gathering....had to be about a dozen of them.  They ended up in my race and started in a second wave.  About 3 laps in these things started shrieking past me on the straight.  Sorta frightening if I remember correctly but what a cool experience.  Had to clean the front of my bike afterward.  Never seen so many together at the same time.

Oh yea! That's a lot of bike. Back in my racing days, one of my biggest thrills was on a TZ250 at Riverside - I think it was the best thing I ever rode on a track.

I knew I guy in high school that was able to "ride one".  His name is on the bike.

TZ750 Yamaha race bikes are just that.  They are not made for the street and compared to how bikes handle nowadays they handle scarry.   When they were current the knowledge of handling was far behind what it is today.  Do yourself a favor and just look at them now with rose colored glasses.

Now a street legal Suzuki  RG500 Gamma race replica or Yamaha RZ500 street bike is different.  They look like the road racers of their era but were made for street riding too.  :thumb:

A friend raced both a TZ750 and a Gamma back in the day when they were the hot ticket.
