Breva 750ie Correct TPS SETTING AND FUEL TRIM
« on: March 12, 2017, 10:36:20 PM »
Hi all, I am new to this forum so any help would be appreciated.. My ride is an 03/04 Breva 750ie.  I have a DNA HI FLO  air cleaner, iridium plugs, Mistral crossover and Mistral cans installed.  Recently purchased  "Centurian ALARIS" DIAGNOSTIC software (this replaced the old VDSTS software).  ECU is a MM15RC and is only 6mths old. After I installed the Mistral cans, I seem to be running  lean...so I figured that the fuel trim needs tweaking and TPS should be reset. BUT I don't know what the settings are.

I am in Sydney, Australia, retired, previous rides ; BSA 350 "countryman" (Australian  Army issue), MV Augusta 350 Cafe Racer, Honda Super Sports, Kawasaki H2Z750,
Yam. Roadstar 1600, Yam FJR1300.  Finally saw the light and got the Guzzi.

Would appreciate any help you guys can offer.

Thanks,
Kendo.

Piss the silly air filter off, run the pipes with dB killers in, tune it as per book. Should be fine unless there is an underlying problem. I'm only just up the road if you need help, bad luck on being fleeced for the centurion gear, Guzzidiag is far more intuitive and much cheaper and, it works, first time every time.

Good choice. :thumb: Is it the fast red colour?

Pete put his magic box on mine when he was over a couple of years ago. Basically all was spot on. Haven't touched anything on the motor except oil, clearances and plugs. Blew out the air filter last time.

Pete, when you said "piss the silly air filter off" is there a replacement one that goes in that poxy space easily?

Not that I know of, but as I said I've never bothered looking as the originals are cheap as chips.

Hi Kendo,
Congratulations on going Guzzi.  I've got an old Centurion unit too, from "back in the day."  Guzzidiag is the new set up.
Actually I'm running a programmable ECU from Australia, called MyECU.  It's great, but before switch to that, I'd give Guzzidiag a try.

Congratulations, Kendo!  Excellent choice!
Post a picture when you get a chance.

I can't help with any TPS settings, my bike is bone stock mechanically:  "I love you just the way you are...."

Factory TPS is set at 3.1* +or- .4*, trim is not adjustable w/lambda closed loop.  Most you can do is reset TPS and self adapt reset.
What you can do is get cables for GuzziDiag and put a non Lambda map into the ECU to run open loop.
OR  Go see Pete, he has cables. And Beetle most likely has a map.

There's info on the Breva throttle body synch & TPS in the Files section on the Moto Guzzi 750 Yahoo site.

The 15RC ECU seems pretty robust. Staintunes work well without any ECU change, as do the Agostinis, but with the dB killers in. With the dB killers out, some popping on the over run developed after some 300-400k on the V7C, lovely sound at idle, but too intrusive a noise for long distances so they are back in. I haven't tried the Mistrals on the 15RC bike, but on the later V7 with a different ECU they work fine (with dB killers in), but that bike has one of Mark's maps.

Whereabouts in Sydney? The NSW club has it's monthly meeting tonight at around 7.30 at the Friend in the Hand, Cowper St, Glebe. If convenient it would be worthwhile dropping by, even with the forecast rain.

There are no TPS adjustments to make, the tps is fixed. Only at idle position it should read 3.1degree,  if not use guzzidiag or centurion to do a tps reset.

And Beetle most likely has a map.

Don't think so. I seem to remember asking about that once. So few adjustments that not much point.

Thanks for the info. guys....Pete Roper yeah, the  Centurian Alaris was not cheap, I was not aware of "Guzzidiag"  .. Will the cables that came with the Alaris work with the Guzzidiag software ? I also have the older  VDSTS cables that were with the bike when I bought it.   Thanks again for all the replies.

In 30 days or less, I'll have 50,000 miles  on my 2004 Breva 750.  You have made a great choice as it is my favorite bike of all time - and that's a long time in my case.

To your question, I have the same setup on mine (Mistrals, etc).  I had the ECU re-flashed by Todd over at GuzziTech: http://www.guzzitech.com/

That made my Breva 750 a sweet tempered, yet feisty, ride.  I have taken it on several road trips of 2000 miles or so, giving me nearly 60 mpg.  Just as comfortable as my 2005 GL1800  (now sold).
