$3200 with the oil leak and it would be a deal.  $5000, it'll be there a while.   Permanently, actually.

I like that blue, but I don't think it's original. The '79's I've seen, including mine,  are a lighter blue that doesn't seem to be a very good paint over time. Nice bike, but priced too high IMO.

"...bought in 2016 with 9000 original miles. Currently the bike has under 19,000 miles."

10,000 miles in a year on an older bike, especially in New York; seems like he rode it enough to like it and keep it. Makes me wonder...

There's good and honest reasons why that can happen but I've got no reason to take those kinds of chances any more.

Any conceivable motorcycle that I might want to buy, I can get from someone I know and trust, like on here, the BSA club, etc.

Been watching over the past year on FB. 10k in 1 yr is pretty good. Lives in NYC, gal in Chicago, originally from KY. Spent the last few months there with his family. His Mom just passed from cancer. Sad that. It's been well cared for.

He did post pics of the bike a bunch last summer. You'd have thought it was the best thing that ever came out of Mandello. I was surprised he was selling it already.

Yeah, thanks.  I've done some maintenance work to it.  All consumables.  Still looks good.  It's in PHX.  I'll probably use it to go to NM & NV state rallies.  Too solid of a bike to sell even though, I have considered it.  Original paint and no problems with the bodywork.  :thumb: clock still works.

So I revived this thread...

Another SP with this color has popped up on ebay...I thought it was the same bike, but these two are different animals....it makes the case this is a stock color...

So (applying "Occam's Razor" to this), either:

1) Two 1000SPs got painted the same dark-blue color by adoring owners OR

2) Hundreds of Guzzi enthusiasts on WildGuzzi who have owned and studied and looked at SPs over the last 35 years have never seen a dark blue stock one until JUST NOW ....

So (as you say) there's a case for it being a stock color.   But .....

Just looked at the pix, and that bike has the right mods. Looks a little rough, but it would be a good candidate for a sport tourer..
Never have seen that color blue either, but.. who knows? Guzzi is Guzzi after all, and that's two.

Wonder what sort of reserve it's got?   $2500 start bid, it better not be too much above that.

I agree about the mods, but I'd have to change those noisy Bubs and get something I could run with panniers ... and add the 450 watt brushless alternator upgrade.   That'd be a great sports tourer ....

Bubs just need to be repacked every year or two...when you do, it's a really sweet...when it's blown out it sounds awful...two versions, the short cans like this, then there are the long straight ones for vert/t/t3/G5....

TOMB found an unheard of white cx100 once...right there in the parts lists was the white paint...think I'll go gander at the Harpers parts books

Same blue on a v50....

http://www.harpermoto.com/v50-fuel-tank-en-2.html

I'm thinking that looks more like the "normal" blue to me..
