Ok Robin moped guru's running issue w/video fixed
« on: April 12, 2017, 05:32:12 PM »
Ok, it's miss firing. new piston and rings (piston has been triple checked for proper placement) seems to be electrical? carb rebuilt, timing good, maybe points? coil causing this? Would bad engine seals cause this?

Tell me what you think

Tell me how to upload a video from my iPhone Please!!

It was points!!

I can't help you with the video but if you describe the miss then maybe someone could help. Something to check with the little two strokes is for a blocked exhaust. The engine starts but wont rev, it just burbles in a rich fashion. Put your hand near the exhaust outlet and feel for a decent flow. Check that the exhaust note has a bit of a distinct pop to it. Also sometimes the little bit of gas getting through is very hot. These days we are used to four stroke engines so this old problem is not always picked up. When you have experienced this problem often you will recognize it. It happens with small power equipment as well when the spark arrester gets blocked.

Did check flow of the exhaust seems to be fine. but, will double check that. It will do like you said and also at times will get higher rpm but popping like a miss fire there as it runs.

It needs to have a good pop pop pop out of the exhaust end. The exhaust blocks slowly and close's the flow gradually.
