:1: I don't see a lot of actual design, I see a lot of cut and paste. My favorite example of this was the Guzzi motor in the CBR900rr frame with the triumph 675 bodywork.

The resume looks sketchy.

I believe it means companies who paid for his services as an independent consultant.  Free meaning independent, not gratis. It sounds like an awkward translation of some Italian idiom.

EDIT:

The Italian wikipedia entry on consulenza (consultant) leads to "libero professionisti" as the source phrase, which Google translates as "freelancers." "Libero" is translated as "free" by the same source. The phrase "consulenti libero professionisti" has 534,000 hits on Google.

So OB's poor translation, "professional free activity," is probably from "attività professionale libera," or "activities as a freelance professional." There is no reason to think those companies got those consulting activities without payment.

Italian wikipedia:
I consulenti esterni che non provengono da società di consulenza, ma operano come libero professionisti, vengono detti freelance.

Google translation:
External consultants who do not come from consulting companies, but work as freelancers, are called freelancers.

Because he puts his Photoshop Phantasy Ahrtwork out there like the images are actual design studies and prototypes for or from the OEMs. He uses the OEMs' logos and does nothing to discourage the viewer of the image from thinking it's a real-deal Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Indian, etc. design study.

He's just some guy with an imagination and photoshop skills who posts his dreams all over the internet. The fact that he does nothing to discourage people from believing the images are from the OEMs offends me.

That's why.

Sorry. Didn't see your reply at the bottom of page one till now.

I guess I don't browse enough on websites of motorcycle news to know or care.

But I'm pretty convinced he does professional work, and worked on the Italjet that has gotten my interest. His Linked-In posting makes clear which companies he claims to have worked for.

What does it really matter to us if he advertises himself this way? <shrug>
