How to find a TPS?
« on: May 02, 2017, 11:56:26 PM »
Hi folks, sorting out a non running V11 Sport I picked up last fall.  It's pretty much all good now (and all amazing!), yet I have found my TPS is pooched.  It gives a universal reading, and will not deviate from 99 mV no matter how it is adjusted.  Looking around the interweb this evening it appears a replacement may be hard to find?  I'll be checking with my local MG dealer in the morning, but wondering about this tonight...  I saw a posting that a Harley Davidson TPS fits???

Thank you Steve.  I'll see what my friend at the MG shop can come up with, and if not, HD is 30 seconds down the street...

The HD TPS fits the EV. Not sure it fits a V11 Sport.
Are you sure you are reading it right? That is odd.

$85

(ignore the note at the bottom, it should work on the V11 Sport- it's a long story but check it when you install it.  I think some of these things are defective out of the box)

Thanks Clubman.  My MG dealer had a spare HD one on the shelf, recommended going that direction over the horribly overpriced MG one so I picked that up and will install today.

Just to finish up this thread in case someone else with a similar problem comes by later.  The replacement TPS did indeed resolve the poor running issues especially in the 3-4000 rpm range.  The original one was pooched, likely from water ingress over 15 years of opportunity.  I'm using the HD one and it seems fine.
