So my Buddy with the V50 III has decided to sell it, no issues, runs great, I took it for two pretty decent blasts, cool little rig.
The day that he and the perspective buyer show up here chat about the sale and price and all that, (wicked long story made nice a short for you) the left side carb cable happens to become ahh, not usable, stretched itself out as it were.
I had suspected that the cables were miss-matched to begin with as one had an adjuster in the cable near the throttle and one did not... ? ? ? Took them off and sure enough, they are not even the same length... WTH...?
So anyway, I have new cables to install and as I pull the throttle assembly off and expect to pull the cables out of the housing I am greeted with these two rubber collars
INSIDE the housing...? They were resting under the barrel, on the cable, on the top of the adjuster if you get my description.
Never having been inside the throttle housing of a V 50 III prior I went to This Old Tractor to try and find a parts diagram showing these little buggers. Ahh, no, none. The only manuals that I could find were the V35 an earlier V50 parts books, no V 50 III.
The collar seem to be an actual part, not just some rubber hose cut off to about 3/16" long. All I can think of that it is some sort of attempt to be a cushion in the housing.
Questions:
Any ideas as to why these are in there...?
Do they belong in there...?
Should I omit them...?
For extra credit, those with keen eyes will notice that
Both barrels are repair type cable barrel ends, set screws holding them on.
Thanks much for any advice here.
Best,
Rob
