Just when you think New Orleans is WAY on down there in the very interesting state of Louisiana, I learned of Venice.
Nice Italian sounding place I thought to myself, I had lived in a Venice Florida 30+ years ago. Turns out this ones the last community down the Mississippi accessible by motorcycle, and it is the southern terminus of the Great River Road. This has earned the town the nickname "The end of the world". Count me in!
I pack up the Griso, leave work early this past Tues, and head out of Atlanta(30 min north there of) for a pre-arranged Airboat ride through marsh land involving alligators and other critters...
This area of the country is so beautiful, people find a way to carry on. Weather be damned.

It was constructed as a coastal defense of New Orleans between 1822 and 1832.
