Maybe pricey, but it's not like there are many anyway and they aren't making any more. One thing you have to say about the 1000S is that it's almost the only Guzzi in the past 40 years that never really lost much value. It was literally an instant classic and I wish I had bought one when they were new. I'd still have it.

Last year or so, my friend got $17k for his black/orange.  It was stock but ridden.  Didn't take him long to sell either

Agreed 100%! A 1000S and a Falcone are tops on my list of Guzzis to own.

With 55K miles I think it's a high price, and not a wire wheel bike.
Just my opinion. For that money I'd have Jim's V7 Sport instead. Essentially zero miles and ready to ride.

$15,000 smack-a-roonies....Lordy-Lordy-Lordy....   It's a nice one, and a BIG VALVE example which is even MORE desirable , but Geeeez-Louise!!

For perspective, this "nut & bolt" restored example went for $20K (reportedly), and was seen in 2013 at the Datil, NM Guzzi Rally.





It must be nice when money is no object...   Would LOVE to own one, personally, but.......Oh well....(*SIGH*)  - - - I'll just keep buying those scratch LOTTERY tickets.... :1:

Why do some have wire and some cast wheels? Different years, or options?

Someone said that most of the spoke wheel bikes came to the US and the mags were mostly in Europe. Last year I picked up a set of mags for my bike so I'm going to try them out for while at the next tire change. And of course they are tubeless, which is a plus.

Well, maybe the situation was different in the US from that in Britain & Europe - my reading indicates that the 1000s was pretty much a sales failure for the first several years.  The Brit bike mags I've seen weren't particularly enamored of it, which probably hurt sales.  Having said that, I, too, wish I had one in my garage right now.  Another note - apparently all of them after 1989 came standard with wire rather than cast wheels (a one-year only standard feature).  Maybe cast wheels were offered as an option, either by the factory or by the US dealer.  Or maybe the US-bound ones had cast wheels standard, since apparently there were a few other minor changes made specifically for the US market.

Having watched, loved, and purchased the movie "Girl Meets Bike," which features just this bike, I definitely understand the attraction.

So I keep repeating to myself, "It's basically the same as my T3... It's basically the same as my T3 ........"

But I also find myself saying, "It's only money .... It's only money ....."

True. I was talking to Gordon at MG, and he said.. "yeah, people looked at it and the higher price and said, what will it do that my T3 won't do? and passed."

less powerful and less brakes but it looks way better and it is the real guzzi Icon .

Of course , that is just my thought and some others will disagree... but there is a beautiful V7 sport for sale in the classified ...not too far in price...

At the time  1000S were available ( 1991) my favorite bike purveyor could easily get one, but I chose a Ducati 900SS because it was simply a superior bike : lighter, possibly faster(?) and easier to ride.  Granted , the 1000S is a wonderful bike, and, as a Guzzi guy I will always admire it, but I don't feel the bike has riding qualities that are greater than comparable Guzzis, and, for that it will be a Guzzi model in someone else's garage but not mine
