New foam for my seat!
« on: July 21, 2017, 10:43:19 PM »
Howdy all

I'm slowly working on a project bike and could use a little advice. I'm still new to the Guzzi scene and supply channels.

Last year I got my Jackal / v7 sport conversion to the point where I could start riding - which was exciting for me.

After putting some miles on it - I've come to the conclusion that the seat foam in the old  seat I bought is starting to go.  It sags under my weight  (190).  I'd like to keep the look and shape of the original seat for style (although a comfortable AND stylish seat would be awesome!) A quick search led me to a guy in the U.K. that sells new foam and covers for olde Guzzi bikes.

Are there any good choices here in the states that you all would recommend? Reproduction or maybe even custom.

The only time I swapped foam on a bike seat I changed the cover myself too.  I suppose it might be possible to reuse the original cover.  It is in good shape.  Thoughts?

Also still looking for a more sport style fender to replace the jackal fender if anyone has a titanium or metal fender they don't want!

Thanks for your help.

Ship it to MEAN STREET CYCLE in NC, just google it. I have had Allen to rebuild two for me and he does a great job using exellent materials for half the price of others. He just did the driver seat of my calvin and it's 10 times better than factory. He builds it with the riders weight to determine the foam density. He has built thousands and are shipped from all over the country. It's around 100 bucks for just the drivers seat. Good luck. You can PM me for further if you like

Thanks Ncdan for the recommendation I'll check it out.

Anybody have experiences with new foam shaped like the original?

I somehow missed the sub forum of builds until last night after I posted up - would this be a topic better suited to that part of the site?
